Social Conservatives & Social Progams?

I know conservatives have varying ideas about things so this is for conservatives who are against abortion and social programs. I was at work and I was talking to my republican co-worker. He was complaining about Minnesota care, a social health care system here in MN. I asked him if he was anti-abortion and he said yes. I then told him that MN Care covers children and pregnant women who wouldn't have insurance otherwise, and that helps women who choose to have their children. He had no response, so obviously he couldn't find a way to argue being anti-abortion and anti-MN Care at the same time. MN Care is a social safety net for those who can't get insurance otherwise. It is not free, it is sliding scale, but it is affordable. It is a very good program, and MN has a good economy and good health care. Our, as you would say, socialized medicine does not hinder our ability to have one of the best clinics in the world, the Mayo clinic. What do you think about a program like this nationally?

Social Conservatives %26amp; Social Progams?
Remember, the republican party is the party of the rich. Big business runs the republican party. Big business can offer their employees affordable health care simply because of their sheer numbers. They couldn't care less about other peons that don't work for them. A young teenager makes some bad choices in her life.... Republicans couldn't care less. Let her kids starve. They are more than willing to spend untold billions in an invasion of another country, but couldn't care less about the poor here struggling to feed their family and get medical care for them. I wish someone could tell me what exactly is wrong with a national health care plan... again, based on a sliding scale?
Reply:P.S. Ruth- forced sterilization is what Hitler did, and what you would have our gov't do also. Report It

Reply:You're going to make my head explode with that story. It kind of puts the kibosh to the bullcrap. I applaud you, first for being able to live in Minnesota and secondly, for living in Minnesota. I'm sure you are proud. I have read a bit about your state and the economy there. Our country needs more forward thinking like your state's, that's what I think. Take a bow Minnesota.
Reply:If you want to really know what bugs conservatives about the social welfare program is that it's a never ending program. The safety net has become a hammock for too many people. A net catches you when you fall, but you should be getting off. Too many people don't get off.

Conservative are all for helping someone when things get rough, but the people getting off should expect to get back on their feet. There's no motivation for people to get off it right now.
Reply:What do you mean , they have no programs , except for themselves
Reply:I don't think a government monopoly on healthcare is good. There's zero competition and little incentive to keep costs down.

Second, you have realize that Planned Parenthood receives about 1/3rd of its annual budget from the US Government. That needs to end, period. The alternative is to have the government also fund pregnancy centers - places where abortions are not available.
Reply:I think that since we have had welfare, out of wedlock births have sky-rocketed. I do not believe in starving or depriving children for the actions of their parents.

I do believe in limiting family size of welfare recipients, through sterilization.

I will leave Minnesota to Minnesota. Considering that in 1997, we just de-nationalized welfare, I would be against another nationalized version.

I will add that Tennessee started such a program 12 or so years ago, and our Democratic governor just disbanded it, because it was bankrupting the state.

EDIT: How is that third reich? The rest of us cannot keep having children we cannot afford. Why should we pay for others to do it? Give me a break! Third reich is taking my money for your programs!
