Our Social Security





Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social


Security (FICA) Program. He promised:





1.) That participation in the Program would be


completely voluntary,





2.) That the participants would only have to pay


1% of the first $1,400 of their annual


Incomes into the Program,





3.) That the money the participants elected to put


Into the program would be tax deductible each year,





4.) That the money the participants put into the


Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the


General operating fund, and therefore, would


only be used to fund the Social Security


Retirement Program, and no other


Government program, and,





5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees


would never be taxed as income.








Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are


Now receiving a Social Security check every month --


And then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of


The money we paid to the Federal government to 'put

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

Who is really trying to take away Social Security?
That's why the Democrats are afraid of privatization of Social Security. Where would they get the money to pay all of these illegal immigrants!
Reply:Both parties had their fair share of plundering the funds.. Now that the baby boomer are starting to retire we face a 47 trillion dollar entitlement deficit... This will mushroom to 77 trillion by 2040 if nothing is done!

Reply:Thanks for posting this. I knew this already and I do get tired of the socialists bad mouthing the republicans over social security. Carter and the democrat majority in congress also doubled the social security tax on working people, with the blessing of the unions. Carter told us this would fix social security.

Reply:You forgot to mention that in his address to congress when introducing this bill, FDR also made one of his 3 main priorities PRIVATIZED RETIREMENT ACCOUNTS....which is what Bush was proposing.





It doesn't matter any way, Social Security will be a thing of the past by time I hit retirement age.

Reply:I wish that stuff was true, but check out Snopes. Much of that is incorrect and some is merely misleading. Some is true. Both parties have screwed it up.
Reply:I am 24. Personally I wish they would do away with Social Security. Even at 24 I have other plans already to pay for my retirement. Why pay in to something that both parties have screwed up so bad I will not get it?
