Social anxiety?

Does anyone have severe social anxiety? I mean so severe that it forced you to quit or change jobs. Does it keep you from parties?

I have social anxiety and when I do force myself to go to parties/bars/social events I am completely miserable the whole time. I just sit there completely sick (like I may throw up or have an upset stomach, but never actually do) and too numb to move. I count to 60 over and over in my head so I know I've made it through another minute and I'm that much closer to the time to leave. I don't have my driver's license (and I'm almost 25!) because not only does the driving itself stress me out (my jaw locks and I sweat like mad), but the driver's test itself freaks me out. Just the idea of someone in the car with me judging every little thing I do is scary.

Okay, how do you deal with your social anxiety? Do you completely freak out about an upcoming event like a wedding or birthday party? Have you found effective steps that help you through the event?

Social anxiety?
the most effective technique I have found to help with these things and many more is EFT. ( emotional freedom technique)

You can learn it from a FREE download and that was the first step I took into this AMAZING world of FREEDOM.

In my experience there will be core issues at the bottom of all these anxieties and so it may be worth (if you can) to work with an experienced EFT practicioner to help it all unfold. There are many listed on the site from all around the world.

The other thing that can really help is to learn BREATHING techniques which help to CALM the body. Good luck.
Reply:The most effective proven treatment is CCBT Comprehensive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I swear to god. EFT?no! Search for the Social Anxiety Institutes webpage and read about their audio series. Report It
