Social worker?

a friend of mines was in a hospital for 2 month and she was asigned a social worker to help her . Becuase the doctors said that she has memeory lost. And my friend does not have medical is her social worker supposed to help her with that and what else is she supposed to do for her? And i was wondering if i'am takin care of her i'am supposed to get help from the county or something the social worker told me i dont get anything for takin care of her. please help this social worker dont never return my calls and she dont care.

Social worker?
More than likely you would get nothing for taking care of her. You have to actually be a certified care taker in most states. If I were you I would contact the state-public aid dept. and ask for help for her. Also, she could try to get SSI. I used to be a counselor and some of my cllients had social workers. Some were helpful and others I'm not even sure that they knew what they were supposed to do. Start making phone calls and asking for help until you get some answers. Your friend is lucky she has someone because so many are lost in the system this way and don't get help. No one will knock down her door tying to give her help-you have to get it. Also, if she needs finacial help with her medical bills you can call the hospital and ask for an application for assistance.(it's called different things so you may have to explain what you need)
Reply:There are some pretty big limits to what the social worker can do, I'm sorry to say.

The social worker is supposed to HELP your friend find resources. However, this is like having a "Fishing License" -- just buying a Fishing License doesn't necessarily ENTITLE you to a fish. It just entitles you to TRY to catch a fish. If there are no resources that can help your friend -- the social worker is out of luck.

If the social worker told you that you "dont get anything for takin care of her," then you don't get anything for taking care of her. Don't blame the social worker for that.

It must be hard to take care of your friend, but that's a very kind thing to do.
