Social Worker?

I am from London %26amp; currently studying Sociology at University. I want to become a Social Worker or at least gain some experience in that field - I only have retail experience. I have looked on websites but they all require experience or a Social Work degree. Can anyone tell me how I can gain experience now or how I can apply to vacancies that require Social Workers after I have finished my degree without a Social Work Degree - please, I really want to aspire to a Social Worker!

Social Worker?
You will want to volunteer. Now the most likely places would be youth programs (like a big brother/sister program, after school, etc.). You can also try through a church or similar organizaion. Many homeless programs also need volunteers. DA
Reply:Talk with your professors, or the head of the Social Work department. They will probably know about great internships or work-study programs so that you can start gaining experience before you earn your degree.

You can also check your local phone book for non-profit and government agencies in your area that provide social services - pick the ones that interest you and call them to inquire about part-time jobs and volunteer positions.
Reply:You can volunteer and get experience that way then apply for a job at the place you are volunteering at once they see your work ethic.
