Social work in a changing context?

social work is very much associated with the modern post world war 2 welfare state. more recently, there have been a number of development which have de-stabilised the welfare state, and as a consequence, have destabilised social work, but what has social work got to offer in the contemporary conditions of 21st Century Australia? and if social work were to disappear, what might take it's place? what are the implications of this for people who use social work services? also what should social workers do to ensure that the profession and its service delivery capacity survives?

Social work in a changing context?
Most social workers would value the ending of the need for the profession. However, the reality is that this is a long way off. The increading complexity of the human condition only enhances the need for social work. This is why the profession is growing not only in Australia and New Zealand but also throughout the asia pacific rim. DA
