Social Worker Ethics?

DO SOCIAL WORKERS LIVE UP TO THEIR CODES OF ETHICS?

The sites of the National Association of Social Workers and the International Federation of Social Workers contains a glowing self-description of people of the highest calibre of dedication, humanism, efficiency, understanding, respect for the rights and dignity of those they care for and a high level of education and social awareness.

Is this the reputation that the Social Workers in your respective countries enjoy among the people who have been in their care?

Have there been exposes in the media of human rights abuses on the part of Social Workers in your countries?

Social Worker Ethics?
Actually, social workers by and large do live up to the standards. There are exceptions, but it is in a minuscule number/percentage of cases.

Remember, the various licensing boards have a vested interest in keeping the incompetent or incorrigible off the roles.
Reply:so far, very little is talked /published abt social workers abuses. probably it doesnt carry much readership. also, sw are poorly paid, doing a miserable job taking care of society unwanteds and therefore the attitude is - who cares!? its sad as there are many abuses by a number of them. so its apparent they r getting away with it. again a few rotten apples spoils the basket
